Who Owns Boulder: Yes In God’s Backyard

In our latest episode of Who Owns Boulder, we explored an inspiring and rapidly growing movement: Yes In God’s Backyard (YIGBY). We were honored to be joined by three incredible guests — Année Kim, Reverend Mary Kate Rejouis, and Danica Powell — who shared their experiences, insights, and hopes for how faith communities can play a leading role in addressing Boulder’s housing crisis.

The YIGBY movement encourages churches and other faith-based organizations to say "yes" to affordable housing on their land, seeing it as an extension of their mission to serve the community. Our guests discussed real-world examples, the challenges and opportunities facing local congregations, and how creative partnerships can help turn underutilized land into homes for those who need them most.

It was a hopeful and energizing conversation — one that shows how, even in Boulder’s challenging housing landscape, new ideas and partnerships can make a real difference.
