In addition to her real estate career, Jill serves as one of Boulder’s Housing Commissioners and as a research assistant for the University of Colorado’s Boulder Affordable Housing Research Initiative (BAHRI). She is also the Chairwoman of Congressman Joe Neguse's Small Business Advisory Council, a member of the CU Center for Leadership Board of Directors, and a member of the Sierra Club Political Committee.
In 2017, Jill was elected to Boulder’s City Council. During her tenure, she advocated for small businesses and attainable workforce housing. She introduced Boulder’s assault weapons ban and the age increase for firearm ownership, both of which passed in 2018. When Joe Neguse was elected to Congress in 2019, Jill paused her real estate career to become his first Director of Community Affairs. During her three years in that role, Jill helped build Representative Neguse’s award-winning outreach program before returning to graduate school. Her master’s thesis focuses on housing affordability challenges and opportunities in Boulder.
Whether in real estate, public service, or academia, Jill has witnessed Boulder’s housing shortage first-hand and is a strong advocate for attainable housing. She has worked to ensure access to safe housing through her involvement in mobile home communities, on the board of Thistle, as a volunteer at the Boulder Homeless Shelter, and on Boulder’s Board of Zoning Adjustment. While on City Council, Jill helped liberalize the City of Boulder’s Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) policy and advocated for zoning land use reform.
Jill has also served on the boards of New Era Colorado, the Boulder Museum of Modern Art, the Downtown Business Improvement District, and the Downtown Boulder Public Policy Committee. In 2022, she chaired the successful ballot measure 2E, People for Voter Turnout campaign. Jill also served as the Interim Senior Director of Policy Programs for the Boulder Chamber, Colorado’s second-largest community Chamber of Commerce.
Jill is a former recipient of BizWest's 40 Under 40 Award, the Colorado Senior Lobby Serving Our Seniors Award, and the Better Boulder Achievement Award. She has also been a two-time contestant in Dancing with the Boulder Stars.
